Tekna Impact, LLC, initiated operations in 1999 as Impact Label Printing. The company was known, simply, as ILP. Its founders, Ernesto Gonzalez and Rory Gonzalez, began operations with only 3 people: a press operator, an administrative assistant and Ernesto at the leader. Printing pressure-sensitive labels and stickers, they found that the “maquiladora” or manufacturing industry in South Texas (McAllen - Reynosa, Laredo – Nuevo Laredo, Brownsville - Matamoros, El Paso – Ciudad Juarez and other cities such as Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, San Luis Potosi, Mexico City and Puebla) had a substantial need for local suppliers with the flexibility to adapt to last minute changes, rush orders, Just In Time and Kanban inventory systems. Tekna Impact, today, provides these same benefits to its customers.

Tekna Impact is driven by the high expectations of its clients to develop itself as a “lean manufacturing” supplier. Quality systems are an integral part of the Tekna Impact culture. These include “green & black belt” certifications, achievement of “ISO” Quality System Standards, “UL Authorized Printer” and “Green Partner” recognitions, to name a few. All together, these show Tekna Impact’s on-going commitment for the fidelity of our products, the safety of their clients and the protection of our environment.

Tekna Impact was the result from the relationship built between Tekna Structures and Impact Label Printing. Impact Label, with a heavy knowledge in the printing industry and in servicing small businesses as well as Fortune 500 Corporations, brought to the formation of this relationship a fantastic system of adaptation and flexibility, as well as the most advanced techniques in label and flexible packaging printing. Tekna Structures, owned by Michael A. Nixon and Jack A. Thrasher is administered by its Managing Director, Michael A. Nixon, an entrepreneur known for participation in several high-technology businesses. With substantial experience in the Asian market, Tekna Structures along with Tekna Impact open doors in China and Korea, where they now maintain an office that develops relationships on the Oriental continent. Tekna Structures has offices in Galveston, Texas, from where Nixon manages the logistics of the flexible packaging division that serves industries such as the cosmetic and nutritional products like candy bar wraps, protein bars, pouches, plastic bags and food packaging, to name a few. There is no question that the joint operations of two outstanding companies such as Tekna Structures and Impact Label, now known as Tekna Impact, result in a unique mix of diverse talents and qualities bringing a substantial advantage to the Tekna clients.

Ernesto Gonzalez was recognized in 2007 by the U.S. Small Business Administration as “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” of region VI, which includes Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. This significant recognition could only have been possible with the support and loyalty of Tekna Impact’s clients.
